Two seasons ago, Mo’ Motion and Gotham Basketball teamed up to provide a fun, inclusive playing experience for the girls grades 4-5 at PS 191 aka “The Cubs.”  The Cubs won the title that season and this year lost a thrilled in a final game.  Those same girls loved the game so much that they persuaded their principal to field a middle school team.  Along the way, they created such a buzz about being part of a team that PS 191 is likely to field TWO teams in the grade 4/5 division of the GBA this season.

See the photos below of the Cubs and note that the GBA made the same offer to PS 75 – the Wonder Girls.  More public school teams are calling the GBA to report their teams in.  In addition to supporting and sponsoring teams in public schools, the GBA has raised funds to replace old backboards and broken scoreboards in the public schools where we hoop it up each weekend.  Thank you to all those who helped the Cubs learn to love the sweat, and thanks to the Cubs and the Wonder Girls for inspiring us to help more girls and boys who want to be part of something special.
